    Accountants (English: Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, referred to as Hong Kong Institute of CPAs or HKICPA; formerly known as Hong Kong Society of Accountants, referred to as HKSA, changed to its current name on September 8, 2004) is based in Hong Kong Cap. 50 of the Professional Accountants Ordinance, established on 1 January 1973. It is the only statutory professional accountant registration organization in Hong Kong, which is responsible for supervising, training and developing the accounting profession in Hong Kong. Up to now, it has more than 47,000 members.

    Introduction toHKICPA QP

    The Qualification Programme of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants includes three progressive levels, including 14 modules and a Capstone, namely Associate Level (10 modules), Professional Level (four modules) and Capstone. It provides different pathways and greater flexibility for students of various educational backgrounds, including sub-degree holders and non-accounting majors, to become CPAs. This enables more students from other disciplines to join the accounting profession, which is important for developing a sustainable talent pool of accounting professionals.

    HKICPA QPEligibility

    • Education pathway

      1. Bachelor’s degree or above, accounting-related majors (accounting, financial management, finance, etc. all belong to the category), can apply for the corresponding exemption of up to 10 subjects in the associate stage
      2. Assessment, if you reach Hong Kong High Diploma/associate degree/Level 4 or above, you will be eligible for the QP exam.

    • Certificate conversion path

      1. Bachelor degree or above recognized by the association;
      2. CPA Canada and other recognition of overseas bodies certificate holders can take the conversion path through the mutual recognition agreement;
      3. Maximum 9 associate modules exemptions can be granted subject to relevant papers passed in the professional examinations of recognized professional accountancy bodies.

    • examination time

      The HKICPA Hong Kong CPA exam has two exam periods a year, which are divided into the June exam session and the December exam session. The HKICPA exam is divided into three levels: basic level, professional level and the highest level , and the time schedule for each level of examination is different.
